The winning fanzines in the ‘The New Football Pools Fanzine Awards 2009’ powered by the Football Fans Census.
Each category winner receives a special engraved trophy and comments from the judges are as follows:
Best Overall Fanzine

For the second year running ‘A Love Supreme’ takes the overall Best Fanzine Award. Outstanding across a number of categories and strong in both print and online media, ALS has set the pace and fully deserves the title best football fanzine in Britain.

Packed with content, and very professionally put together TOOFIF combines interesting articles with an amusing & light hearted look at the goings on at Craven Cottage. At 70+ pages it has more content than most fanzines and maintains a very high standard throughout the publication.
Best Premier League Online Fanzine
‘A Love Supreme’ – Sunderland AFC
A very well designed website with regular updates, excellent graphics and a strong sense of community. ‘A Love Supreme’ online is a big hit with the fans and judges.
Best Football League Print Fanzine
‘A Kick Up The R’s’ – QPR FC
The QPR fanzine takes an Award for the second year running. With excellent design, creative covers and terrific content AKUTR’s is a labour of love and a great read for any QPR fan. The fledgling website launched this year could be one to watch for the future.
Best Football League Online Fanzine
‘Vital Lincoln’ – Lincoln City FC
Vital Lincoln is an excellent site run as part of the Vital Football network. The judges were particularly impressed by the efforts made by the site contributors to build relationships between the club, fans and local rivals Grimsby Town, including charity matches between the rival sets of supporters.
Best Non-League Fanzine
‘Show Me The Way To Go Home’ – Maidstone Utd FC
SMTWTGH is an outstanding publication - with a glossy cover, 52 pages of dynamic content and a vibrant online community it attains Premier League standards on a Non League budget.
Best Editor
Bryan Reed, editor of Show Me the Way to go Home – Maidstone Utd FC
Well respected and admired by Stones fans, Bryan Reed, editor of SMTWTGH, is described by his editorial team as being able to sustain a fine balance between serious comment, earthy jocularity, and that football supporter staple, passionate whingeing. Judges were particularly impressed by the exceptionally high standard of the fanzine given the size of the clubs’ supporter base.

Mickey Blue Eyes, writer for Blue Kipper – Everton FC
For the second year running Blue Kippers’ Michael Durkin, or ‘Mickey Blue Eyes’ as he is affectionately known, takes the Award for Best Writer for his original, humorous and personal style of writing.

Craven Cottage Newsround – Fulham FC
Another accolade for the West Londoners – Craven Cottage Newsround is a frequently updated blog with news, match previews, well written articles and reports. The judges were particularly taken by the highly original nature of some of the blogs.
